Official: Albin Ekdal Signs for Djurgården
After months of speculation, it’s finally official: Albin Ekdal has signed for Swedish club Djurgården. The midfielder joins the Stockholm-based side on a free transfer after leaving Sampdoria at the end of last season.
A Return to His Roots
Ekdal, who has 58 caps for Sweden, started his career at Brommapojkarna in 2007. He then moved to Juventus in 2008, where he spent four seasons before joining Cagliari in 2012. After three years in Sardinia, he moved to Hamburg in 2015, and then to Sampdoria in 2018.
Excited for the New Challenge
Ekdal expressed his excitement about joining Djurgården, saying, “I’m really looking forward to this new challenge. Djurgården is a big club with a lot of history, and I’m honored to be a part of it. I can’t wait to get started and help the team achieve its goals.”
